Soupbox660 Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 Ok, so now that I have moved this into the Jetting Forum after looking like a dumbass. OOOOOO Raptor jetting question... Please don't hate me. Ok so I'm wondering if you guys can give me an idea of where I need to start with my jetting. Here's what I've got. 03' Raptor 686 stage 2 hotcam 11.1 FMF Powerbomb header and Powercore 4 muffler K&N with outwear and no airbox lid 0-3000 ft approximately 50 degrees air temp, but its a 4-poke so not a big deal Thanks guys Quote
holeshotkid Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 (edited) I'll take a stab at this for you. I would start with a (mikuni jets) 165 in the left and a 170 in the right, minimun of 25 pilots 3/1/2 turns out on the air screws, maybe even 27.5's, clips in the 4th groove (from the blunt end). Run it for awhile and check your plug. I wouldn't be suprized if your real close with that setup. I'm real close to your setup with a stage 1 and porting, trinity stage 4 exhaust and I'm at (dynojets and needles) 160L/165R, 25P. 4th groove L/5th groove R. I highly recommend the dynojet stage II kit with a few extra size bigger jets. It got rid of my midrange hesitation that I had when I took the airbox lid off. lastlegwarrior Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 Why 2 different sizes in the 2 carbs. Why not the same size? I'm kinda confused. Quote
holeshotkid Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 The left carb feeds one valve and the right carb feeds two. Quote
Soupbox660 Posted February 28, 2006 Author Report Posted February 28, 2006 Thanx man, that gives me a good place to start, I can figure it out from there. Quote
holeshotkid Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 (edited) No problem. I have also found that an air fuel screw adjustment tool is almost priceless to have if you have a raptor. It allows you to dial in your air fuel screws to obtain the best setting with the carbs still on the quad. The one I have is a motion pro brand. You will want to back the screws out 1/4 of a turn at a time until it quits backfiring on deceleration.
