When is a good time to go to Little Sahara?

I want to plan a trip, but dont know when there are group gatherings.

If you want HUGE gatherings, snakehunt is the biggest weekend of the year, and it's the first weekend after easter. Sandfest is the other really big weekend, and I think it's the first weekend after labor day.

 

Keep in mind that if you go out there for the big weekends, it's alot of fun if you're going out there to party and drag race, but as far as hitting the big dunes, there just seem to be too many people out there for it to be quite as enjoyable as one of the slower weekends. I can't speak for everyone, but it seems like you always take a much bigger risk of meeting someone head on at the top of a dune on a big weekend. Also, if you do go on a big weekend, make sure to bring plenty of mardi gras beads, but don't let the cops catch you handing them out.

 

Other than that, I found that the best times are usually mid-april to early june or early september to mid october. There are usually still quite a few people out at the dunes at these times, and the weather isn't too cold at night, but it's not extremly hot during the day.
