Polish Posted February 4, 2006 Report Posted February 4, 2006 I am repacking a set of CPI in frame pipes...........is there any thing else I can use besides the material that is sold at ATV shops.............something less expensive but will do same effect? Quote
fastbanshee8 Posted February 4, 2006 Report Posted February 4, 2006 I have a friend, that used fiberglass insulation, but it burns up rather quickly. If you just need something to get you by for a few days, then it will work. If you are looking for a long term solution, then I don't know of anything else, other than the repacking from the bike shops. Quote
badbanshee01 Posted February 4, 2006 Report Posted February 4, 2006 (edited) YOu can use fiberglass insulation, just remember to take the paper off the one side.It has worked for me as about as long as regular packing Edited February 4, 2006 by badbanshee01 Quote
FASTOYS Posted February 4, 2006 Report Posted February 4, 2006 Heres one for ya, i have seen customers use steel wool before. I guess it worked in a pinch. Quote
rocketboy Posted February 4, 2006 Report Posted February 4, 2006 it shouldnt cost more than 10$ .. thats not very expensive IMO , ive seen fiberglass pink panther insulation used on a set of pipes for quit some time and it worked fine Quote

jjfizzle51 Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 is it absolutly necicary to pack your pipes cause i havnt done it for 2 years why do you do it thanks for any help Quote
badbanshee01 Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 I think if you don't pack your pipes for a long time you will lose some power because of the sound waves or something I heard a while ago. Quote
Lethaface Posted February 8, 2006 Report Posted February 8, 2006 The packing keeps db's down as well as creating back pressure for the motor..If you are jetted to rich, or get alot of water in the silencer, the packing will knot up and blow out much quicker.. Quote
