badbanshee01 Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 I just got the outerewear airbox cover for 20 bucks. My problem with it is that I cant get it to fit over the airbox.I think my problem is the 2 holes on the back of the airbox where the bolts go to hold the airbox on. They come out about a inch from the airbox and the outerwear can't fit around it with those two big tabs on each side. Also, there is only velcro on the front and back, shouldn't their be some on the sides too? It doesn't make a good seal with just the elastic stuff. It seems like a rip-off to me so far. Have you had any of these problems or had to modify the outerwear? thanks alot, Justin Quote

BrianEb Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 Yeah I got ripped off on that Outerwears Airbox cover also. What I did is carefully drill two holes in my Outerwears cover, wear the hole tabs are. But it still does not secure it all that well around them tabs. The Velcro does not stick all that well. I think you are better off getting that Eddie Sanders Airbox Cover Lid, The Toomey 2-in-1 filter, The K&N Pod Filters, or just keep the OEM Airbox cover. Quote
yammerhammer98 Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 Yeah, I was pretty disappointed with the fit too. I ended up adding some thin strips of Velcro along the sides and it seems to be sealing better. If anyone is looking at buying one of these things, look elsewhere. Quote

Or would it let too much stuff get by? I do ride in some very light water, nothing soaking wet but I may hit a couple puddles once in a while. will this water get to the filter with this outerwear on? Thanks alot again Quote

rebelbanshee2 Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 I too had trouble with the outerware lid. Heres what you do. You know those little black clips? (see pic) Use one on each side to clip the cover to the edge of the box. It takes some of the pull out of the fabric too so it stays on the velcro alot better. Quote
Wallrat Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 You could always use a nylon (u know...for chicks legs). I used to put those over my filters on my rc cars. I've heard of some atv users doing it as well. Doesn't really repel water but it keeps the dirt off and can easily be changed halfway thru the weekend. Quote
