Ultimateduner Posted December 17, 2005 Report Posted December 17, 2005 Over Thanksgiving my headlights stoppped working for no reason at all. I though it was the lights themselves so I went out and bought a new set. When I hooked them up, nothing happened. I checked the wires for the headlights and the tail light with a test light and found that no power was coming through. Is this a common problem? I called Kenz cycle tech, a local shop, and they told me it was my CDI box and that they could sell me a new one for 418 dollars!! Which seems ridiculous. Other than the lights, my banshee runs great, starts up and rides perfect. Could this be the stator? Or is they a fuse that might have blown out? Any insight is helpful. Thanks Quote
ssanddemon Posted December 17, 2005 Report Posted December 17, 2005 Ditch that shop immediately! They are either crooked or stupid, the CDI has nothing to do with the lights. I had this last year; went thru the harness, tracking back from the lites at each connector; never go any juice. Checked the lighting coil per Clymer's and that's what it ended up being. The Ricky's 200 watt was a real nice upgrade. Quote
Wallrat Posted December 17, 2005 Report Posted December 17, 2005 Could also be the voltage regulator or just a loose wire at some point in the circuit. From the stator, you've got a plug, and a black and yellow wire. The black and yellow are your lighting circuit. Hook up a meter on em and see if you're getting any voltage. If you are, follow the wires and see where you're losing it. Oh ya and ditch that shop yesterday! Quote
Ultimateduner Posted December 20, 2005 Author Report Posted December 20, 2005 Wheres the lighting coil located ? Quote
Wallrat Posted December 20, 2005 Report Posted December 20, 2005 On your stator. You've got 2 sets of windings - some small wimpy looking ones and then some beefier ones. The beefy ones are for lighting, the other post are ignition. Quote
