now i know most people run gear oil or even atf. when i had my engine built the guy put in 20w-50 golden spectro synthetic i have been running it for almost a year. my question is should it be ok. i think so it hasent hurt anything yet. just makes me curious cause the guy at the dealer said something basically why dont you use yamalube.

 

thanks any imput would be great.

He just trying to sell you the yamalube, but dont get me wrong its good stuff. I have ran bel-ray gear saver 80w for 2 years with no problems. I would say it will be ok like you said. Also, you need to change it more than ever year.

ive changed it about 7 times this year. im not like some of the other people here that dont know shit i was just wondering if its safe to run 20w 50. thats all thanks

no no. that would be bad. its just alot of people have change on this site. there used to be alot of people on all the time that new there shit and know i dont think half of these people own a shee. just my .02

I ran ATF in my 87 and changed it every time I rode it hard. In my 97 I'm running Castrol GTX with that lucas oil stabilizer stuff and I change that every 2 or 3 rides. I never noticed any difference between the ATF and actual oil. Both run the same.

I ran bel-ray gear saver 85w and changed it every third ride. I would think that anything thinner would be ok if it was changed every ride. But I would not do it to my shee.
