GSXKID Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 OK i got my banshee off some kid he told me the jetting is freaked up so he said i would get that fixed before i did any riding so i warmed it up and did a nice 3rd gear pull and shut the key off and coasted over and looked at the plugs they were white like they had never been ran yet. So i am now scared thinking how freaked up is the motor so i pulled the carbs right away and seen what he was running for a main it was a 240 i through in some 250's and the plugs look a little better now a tan color similar to the color of a brown bag i think it needs 260's. Does that sound right It has fmf pipe and silencer ,boyeson rad valves ,kn air filter and its bored 60 over. Also another question i noticed it smokes alittle more out of the right pipe and i noticed the right hand side gets hot and the left side stays pretty cool. LIke if i touch the right pipe its hot and i gotta pull my hand away but the left i could keep my hand there all day. Can anyone answer these questions for me it would be great. I will do a comp test tommorow and get you some numbers. but tell me what you think about the hot and cold pipe that dont seem right to me. Sorry for such a long post too. Thanks Quote
wesw Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 300 would be a good place to start and put yoru needle on the 4th clip if its not done yet probably will end up with 320 with no lid if thats what you run Quote
fastbanshee4u Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 270--280 mains should be fine as long as its not been ported.30 pilots Quote

Maybe as big as 310 if you aren't running the lid. A useful fact to know would also be what elevation and temperature you are running in. 270--280 mains should be fine as long as its not been ported.30 pilots 430093 I can't see you needing a pilot any bigger than 27.5. That is what I currently run, with no airbox and the other mods listed in my sig @ 1.75 turns out on the air screws. Quote
GSXKID Posted October 27, 2005 Author Report Posted October 27, 2005 I live a half hour outside of boston MA so it pretty close to sea level and its been in the 40's for a couple weeks but it will only get colder. Quote
GSXKID Posted October 27, 2005 Author Report Posted October 27, 2005 (edited) I rEally dont wanna sound dumb but what does it mean the 4th clip i have heard it thrown around alot on this site in the searches i have done. Also anyone know why the right exhaust gets hotter than the left and it seems like the right is pushing more exhaust then the left. Any thoughts Edited October 27, 2005 by GSXKID Quote

Any thoughts 430482 the needle is the thing that is long and pointed when you unscrew the carb cap off at the opposite end there is a c -clip and little notches count from the top down and with one more hot the air fuel screw is prob different from one to the other so one is getting hotter but should do a compression check before you start to do anything Quote
GSXKID Posted October 28, 2005 Author Report Posted October 28, 2005 ok Thanks i know the needle your talking about i just didnt know about the clip. I will check the screws tommorow and do a comp test. I was going to today but never got around to it. Thanks for your help Quote

Thanks for your help 430542 The clip is under the throttle cable retainer in the slide itself. You have to bunch the spring that is between the carb cap and the slide, shake the slide to get the cable retainer (gold colored keeper) loose, remove the throttle cable from the slide, and then take out the two screws in the slide holding the retainer in. This will expose the needle with the grooves and E-clip. Raising the clip towards the blunt end, lowers the needle and leans out your midrange, visa versa.
