jeepman380 Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 Why do you use just Type F ATF? All automatic trannys are wet clutches so I don't see why Type F is the only one that works. Quote

Type F is doesn't, and lets the clutch hook up good. Quote
blueshee03 Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 i think you got that backwards type f has the friction modifiers and the others don't.thats what i was told back in the early days when i was driving 50's,60's and 70's fords. Quote

I use type F in my 66 Chevelle. I was told however that if you have been using regular oil in your trans to keep using it until you change your clutch. Other wise it will prematurely fry the clutch when you change. Quote
