bkabina Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 Got any pictures of your set-up?Are you running a shock or strut?Dirt or asphault. It could be a number of things. The most common problems are the bar is too short, too high,or just built too stiff.Ive been through all of these. You should make it adjustable if you can. It'll help on different track conditions.I like to being able to adjut it from 3'' off the ground to about 6''. May be a little hard to see,but I like the single bar on top and two on bottom. It mounts with heims to the carrier, and to the mount I welded to the subframe. The whole thing was built with 3/4 X .058 seamless mild steel.I am going to build all new wheelie bars this winter with chromoly. The mild steel doesnt have memory like the moly.So the bar I have now is actually bowed a bit.I have had no other problems with it. trav Posted October 17, 2005 Author Report Posted October 17, 2005 (edited) i think it is to short. it is adjustable it was allmost all the way down in that pic the bike has struts all around the track is asphault Edited October 17, 2005 by trav Quote
bkabina Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 (edited) Try going 60"- 65".A good asphault bar I found is to use 2 small wheels like a bigger roller blade or one of those razor things.Space them about 12" apart and run 2 top tubes from the subframe down to each wheel and run 2 tubes from the carrier to each wheel.Put a cross brace right behind the wheels on the bottom and just behind where it bolts to the carrier. You can put like an X brace towards the middle of the bar to tie all 4 tubes together. A good place to start on asphault is setting the wheelie bar tire about 2" from the ground. Edited October 17, 2005 by bkabina Quote
Blackmon Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 here is a pic of a set of bars my buddy built for mine..instead of bolting to the carrier they bolt up to the rear set of the foot peg mounting holes and on the top it bolts to the middle of the grab bar..good luck with your bars man Quote
