Shit is hitting the fan here at work and I'm going to have to extend lead times on parts and products from less than 1 week to around 4 weeks or more.

My pops is going in for knee replacement surgery on tuesday, and we are currently backlogged around 4-6 weeks with me working 12's, 6 days per week. He's putting in 12's as well.

While he's out, I'll be the only guy in the shop with the exception of some part time help we've aquired, but for the most part I'll be so flowering busy I won't have time for much. He'll be out for 2 weeks in bed, then when he can finally stand up, he won't be able to do anything much for about 3-4 months.

Just didn't want to leave anyone hanging.

Any current orders I have will be filled in a timely manner, and after next week is when I'll have to ask for quite a bit more lead time.

I do have some stock billet on hand, some is polished some isn't, and I have carriers for conversions etc, and some steel cut for swingarms, but any new billet will have to be scheduled with everything else. Swingarms will be pushed back 4 weeks or so.

I'm not saying I don't want the business, I'm just letting everyone know their shit is going to take a lot longer than usual.

Also, if someone happens to not see this next week, as is my policy, I keep all funds in my pay pal account until the item is shipped. So if I need to issue a refund I can do it quickly.

With that being said, it might all change in 2 weeks. Thats the nature of the beast. When you are self employed plan on not planning anything.

:P

Thanks for the words. We've been told although its quite an intrusive operation, with the cutting of the muscles and grinding on the bones for the replacement caps, he won't be in anymore pain, and they go fairly smoothly. His other knee is perfect. This knee has given him problems his whole life. He had an old school knee surgery when he was 18, and its always given him problems. Now its bone to bone and is constant droning pain.

We're hoping no more problems with him as well. Shit, I think I do quite a bit until he isn't at the shop. Then I see how little I really do in 10 hours.

:notworthy:

You would be surpised at the work that has come in in the last 3 months.

We even had a job that was due on Sept 29th that wasn't even off the freakin saw yet. We call the guy, tell him our situation, he says "Thats ok. Here, I got 2 more PO's for you"

WTF?

Then his boss calls, she gives us 2 more jobs on top of that.

I have about 15-20 PO's sitting on my desk, 1/2 of them I haven't even started yet.

Its good to have that much work in to be honest. I HATE when there isn't work to be done.

Told another customer the same thing. He said 'Dont worry about it. I'll be by next week to drop off some more work."

What these companies we work for are doing, is giving us the work and then giving us about 3x the time to get it all done. They know we deliver quality, and why take a chance on some other shop when we've been doing their work for years.

this is just a sign of a good business.. ppl understand that there are times when you cant have thing asap ... but it also helps when you let ppl know up front that you are gonna be a lil slow on production... word of mouth is key to a business next to quality of a product that your word produces...customer service is as important as the quality of a product if not more.... on this note pm me a price on a -2 swinger.. i can wait till you get it readyt when you get caught up cus im in no hurry but looking for a minus swinger...

Hope everything goes well with your pops. If it is anything like my dads, he said that his knee didn't hurt as much after being cut open and replaced as he had lived with for years before the replacement. Just make sure he follows through with the therapy....

Thats good to hear...

I've been on his ass to rehab properly. Especially with winter coming up. Don't need him slipping out in the snow. Gonna have to do something like get a bunch of DVD's and park him in front of the computer for a while.

Bansheefreak, I'll let you know asap. Probably when I get a break later today.

Stan, best wishes for your dad I hope he has a speedy recovery. Is he getting one of the cool bionic leg machines at the house? My Grandfather had his knee replaced a few years ago and they delivered a machine to the house that he sat next to for 3 hrs at a crack that he had to strap his leg into and it flexxed / extended his leg for him.
