so i got a billit water pump (just to make sure that my bike doesn't get hot like it did when it blew). i was positive that my jetting was dead on and it wasn't detonating when she let go. so i go to put in the new billet job and bingo there it is the cause of all my heart ache. the stock impellar is compleatly smooth. let this be a lesson to all even if you haven't had a problem and the stocker is still in there spend the money and get a billet one. it will save you money in the long run.

thats some crazy shit, what the hell was yamaha thinkin when they put in that cheap plastic impeller :shrugani: . Iv heard other guys with melted ones, your not the only victim. I replaced mine with a billet one along time ago.

Agreed! I hadn't had any problems with mine... but for under $100 anyone should do themselves a favor and replace it. Plus the impeller design of the Pro Design billet is superior to the stock piece. The vanes of the Pro Design are closed in the center which will provide better flow; whereas the stock unit is open in the center and can have some loss of flow as not all coolant is moved.

Mine wasn't smooth but it got hot and warped the crap out of it. The billet one does a pretty good job of keeping it cool now thou! But its a damn good thing little sahara shops carry the billet ones
