racer714 Posted October 3, 2005 Report Posted October 3, 2005 (edited) Help anyone/everyone. I just did a few non motor mods, (trailtech computer, case saver, bigger front sprocket, new rear tires and rims), so the problem Im about to mention doesn't have anything to do with this I don't think. Anyway after finally gettting the computer on I proceeded to fire her up to take a hot lap around our block to check the new trailtech out and as soon as it starts(no problems starting) it screams so bad I have to shut her off or sounds like it will blow its reeving so high! I hadn't it fired up for 4-5 weeks since my last ride and it ran great last time! ANY HELP, IDEAS OR INPUT would be appreciated more than I can say.Could one of the slides be sticking? Im pretty sure Im due for a new throttle cable, I have a brand new one and the stock thumb throttle Im planning on putting on soon anyway. OH and it was super humid yest, just rained 2 hours earlier, temp is about 15 degrees lower than the last ime it ran good. Please Help!! Oh yeah the tors is removed also Edited October 3, 2005 by racer714 Quote
breidy Posted October 3, 2005 Report Posted October 3, 2005 when you started it, the revs just went through the roof? without you touching the gas? or barely touching the gas? Quote

breidy Posted October 3, 2005 Report Posted October 3, 2005 i dont know.. check the top of the tors eliminator caps... those thing tend to get loose and that will cause it. check the boots where the carbs go to. make sure they have no cracks. take them off and bend them well and make sure they're solid.. what else?.... check the gaskets for the boots/reeds. and make sure the clamps for the carbs didn't get loose. breidy Posted October 3, 2005 Report Posted October 3, 2005 and ofcourse, take the filters off and make sure the carbs aren't getting stuck anywhere.. the slides should come down easily.. just press the throttle while looking into the carbs with the filters removed. Quote

Dead Op Posted October 3, 2005 Report Posted October 3, 2005 Sounds like your carb slides are stuck wide open... Quote
Shee-Male Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 check the slides, i had one of the keyways that hold the slide from turning wigglle out and the slide turned at full trottle and got hung up! Quote
racer714 Posted October 4, 2005 Author Report Posted October 4, 2005 allright get this, it had just rained that day and was humid like a mofo, I mean the garage floor was slippery it was so humid, I tried it again yesterday and it wouldnt start worth a shit, let alone scream upon fireup. I have a 190' drive sloped down slightly so i got behind the bitch and pushed and jumped started it the 2nd try. Apparently all that humidity was causing one or both of the slides to stick. It seems to be fine now, geeze and I thought I was gonna have to go thru the pain of diagnosing an air leak!!!!!!!! thanks again everyone, IM RIDING THIS WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
