Nighty Posted September 28, 2005 Report Posted September 28, 2005 Hey all. Since last weekend i have some new road tires. These are quite a bit lower then stock 20" banshee tires. And are an awesome improvement on pavement. The first response from the riding mates was, your going to be alot slower with those tiny tires. Boy where they.. and me aswell .. suprised to see the top speed only be 3 miles slower. While testing the top speed one of the riding mates pointed at my pipes. After pulling over he screamed: your pipes where glowing red hot! Now i know jetting doesnt change because of different tires. Bike has been a bit rich since day 1. But since the banshee revs till the redline in 6th gear now, and i mean redline. Can it be that i'm running lean(er) @ those high revs? Currently running a 40 tooth sprocket, i think ill change to a 38. Thanks for any comment in advantage! Quote
ellison445 Posted September 28, 2005 Report Posted September 28, 2005 Any back firing? What mods do you have? Whats your current jetting? Im thinking you might have a air leak, or a broken reed! Quote
Nighty Posted September 28, 2005 Author Report Posted September 28, 2005 No backfiring at all. A clean rev up to the verry last rpm it can do. real smooth. like a downhill 4th gear WOT on a normally geared banshee. For mods: Pipes + modified airbox lid (stock air filter) 290 main 4th clip on needle not sure on the pilots but that wont be an issue here. Stock ignition timing. Both headers glowing red for a good 5" Quote
RNBRAD Posted September 28, 2005 Report Posted September 28, 2005 Can it be that i'm running lean(er) @ those high revs? Absolutely!! Do a plug chop and see what it reads. Get back with us on it. Quote
bobbybonilla Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 How long are you holding it open? Are you doing this at night? Quote
Nighty Posted September 30, 2005 Author Report Posted September 30, 2005 How long are you holding it open? Are you doing this at night? Did this at night and was holding it open for 10 seconds. So thats 10 seconds at the point where it did not rev any higher. And i promise to never do it again Quote
FIRST BANSHEE Posted October 2, 2005 Report Posted October 2, 2005 Did this at night and was holding it open for 10 seconds. So thats 10 seconds at the point where it did not rev any higher. And i promise to never do it again 421297[/snapback] my headers on my mustang would glow after a run on nitrous, but I ran it rich on the fuel side to be safe, I think too much fuel and not enough air to cool it down makes the exhaust hot, and to much air and not enough fuel melts the piston. blah,blah,blah... good luck Quote
