ok guys help me out. i'm looking to buy a frame with a title. i want to build my banshee from the ground up. a buddy is selling me a motor and i want to build a new bike. is it possible to get a new vin assigned to a frame if you have a bill of sale??? if it is possible i would also consider a frame w/out a title.

you cannot get a vin . you can get a title in some states with a frame with numbers and a bill of sale.

wyoming lets you put your own VIN number on your frame if you have a law enforcement officer witness it. We usually do the date, first letter of the month it currently is, county number it is in, initials of the owner, then 5 numbers we choose. As long as you have the officer sign off on it, and you fill out the paperwork, you can get it registered, then get a title for it. Not sure of other states though.

Ive got a 1990 j arm for sale, 175 bucks only have a bill of sale but should be fine.
