taldoc3 Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 I was Little Saraha in Okla. and was jumping and bent my stock axle, I was wondering if it would be worth it to have it straightned back, would it be weak since it was bent once, I bought a g-force axle that can be extended, what are the benefits of an extended axle besides being able to corner better, how are these axle's Quote
9603banshee Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 I have 2 banshee axles for sale....both are chromed..one's a stocker chromed and one's a durablue chromed ..both are like brand new...pm me or email [email protected] for info...thanks Quote
RATBIKE0130 Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 Since you already bought the G-force just throw that on. The stock axles are pretty stout as long as you don't use wheel spacers or really offset wheels. The problem with extended axles is they do tend to bend easier. Don't get me wrong though it will still take quite a hit or bad landing to bend the G-force. Quote
Holyman Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 I would never trust a bent and straightened axle for riding. It's only your life you're messing with Quote

Holyman Posted August 24, 2005 Report Posted August 24, 2005 Sorry... having a bad day. Let me try this again. Just bend your weakened axle back to where it was. Bending an axle over and over again actually makes it better. And if you do it right, it will break off when you land a big jump. Being perilized is cool Quote

Once you bend an axle, you stretch one "side" and compress the other. If you attempt to straighten it, you don't compress the other side exactly, and you don't stretch the compressed side exactly. You've changed the structure of the steel. Thats one of the reasons they are heat treated, is to create a uniform crystalline structure, which gives it strength and durability, plus a higher yeild strength. If you heat it you wouldn't accomplish anything either. Just get a new axle and be done with it. If you're laying on your back in the dirt you'd wish you spent the cash. Quote
