1991FZR600 Posted August 16, 2005 Report Posted August 16, 2005 my '94 banshee that I just bought was bored to a 370 and rebuilt last year by a shop. ran great when I bought it, then a plug wire broke. I bought a new ignition coil and ngk plug caps. fresh gas, new plugs, clean filter, but it's effed up. when I put it in gear after starting it and try to drive it, I get full power, then nothing at all but before it completly dies it fires full again and continues to do that back and forth back and forth. what the hell is it? I don't think it's a dirty carb because everything was great until I put that new oem coil in. it matters which plug wire goes to which plug right. I'm not sure which goes to which because this new coil is different with much longer wires. which way do you turn the idle screws to raise the idle? Quote
Holyman Posted August 16, 2005 Report Posted August 16, 2005 Check your entire fuel system. Take off the tank valve, drain the tank, clean the internal screens {better yet remove them and use clear fuel line and inline filters} and check you carb bowls for float function. You may also have an air leak somewhere but I'd check fuel system first. Quote
race-a-holic Posted August 16, 2005 Report Posted August 16, 2005 I might be wrong(someone correct me if I am),but I think it does matter which wire goes on which plug. Not really sure why but that's what I heard.Might try switching wires and see what happens. Quote

trex banshee Posted August 16, 2005 Report Posted August 16, 2005 sheefreak is correct, it does not matter both cylinders fire at the same time. Quote
1991FZR600 Posted August 16, 2005 Author Report Posted August 16, 2005 I did try switching the plug wires. Which way do a go with the idle screws to raise the idle? Quote
MonkeyBoy Posted August 16, 2005 Report Posted August 16, 2005 Mine did that for a while, and I found that the coil wires were grounding to the fram at high RPMs. Let it get dark, and then start the bike. If it is grounding, you will see the spark jump. Quote
