Hi, i'm new here and was wondering if i could get some help. I have a 96' Banshee, i put it away in the fall. When i got it out this spring i fired it up pulled in the clutch lever and dropped it in gear and it lurched and died. With it shut off it rolls fine in neutral but as soon as you shift it the back tires lock up with yhe clutch lever pulled in. I took off the cover, clutck looks good. I pull in the lever and i can see the plates seperating but still stuck in gear. My last ride last ride last year i never had a problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

i have had trouble with my clutch not disengaging, but that sounds a lot different, if the plates are seperating then you would think it would roll, have you taken the clutch off compleatly and checked if it would roll, then you would at least be able to look for a bind over there.

This has happened to me on regular occasions when I haven't rode for awhile. The problem at least in my case, was the clutch plates are dry from sitting for so long without any oil touching them. So when you shift into gear they won't slip past each other even though your clutch is pulled in. Cure: For now your gonna have to rev the bike up a little when you put it in gear so it doesn't die & ride the bike around your yard for a few minutes. This will lubricate the plates & when you get done with that & pull your clutch in it won't try & walk on you anymore. Long term cure: RIDE MORE!

I figured it out. The bushing on the shaft seized to the inner basket and to the shaft. I got the basket and gear off but not the bushing yet. I don't know the best way to do that, maybe a cutoff wheel? I really appreciate all the help i was given. Thank you

I finally got it all apart. I bought a new spacer and need to buy a new brass bushing that fits into the back basket over the spacer. My local dealer told me i had to buy a new basket. I can't believe you can't buy just the bushing. If anyone knows where i can find one please help. THX Nick
