Handyman Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 (edited) Ok so I finally got time to start the installation of my top end. I ended up buying Wiseco pro lite pistons. NOw that I have everything together do I need to put some sealant on the gasket mating surfaces for the base gaskets and head gaskets?? If so what kind? I know 2-strokes are picky but I'm not sure just how picky they are. I know if I was putting a engine together on a vehicle I wouldn't second guess, I'd do it. Just thought I'd ask before I got it all together and it started leaking everywhere, better safe than sorry. Edited August 1, 2005 by Handyman Quote
VinceDizzy Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 Yes you need some on the base gaskets. I do a small bead on the matting surface facing up. Just make a bead where the gasket would contact the cylinder. Use Yamabond 4. That should be the one that stays flexable. Hondabond is a bit better, its a little more sticky. As for the head i have an o-ring type head so i cant help ya there Good luck Anyone else please correct me if im wrong Quote
