DBLtapS
I just finished putting my shee back togeather. It runs fine, I havent really gotten on it yet though. Question, I was just thumbing though the clymers and was reading abou thte rings. I just put them on. I didnt look at the different thinckness. Should I tear it back down and double check? What will happen if they are reversed? Thanks
Rare Scottish Tree Badger
Well, you've got a 1 in 3 chance of having them correct. ... Both pistons right, both wrong, or one right and one wrong. The odds are against you! You should be able to tell 0.45mm (half a millimeter) by sight through the exhaust. ... They're obviously made like that for a good reason, and I would imagine you'd have problems if they're not correct. Are they original style pistons that you've just changed the rings on. ... I know with my Wiseco prolites, it didn't matter what way up or which ring went in which groove. Rare.
DBLtapS
I took the cylinders off to check. I had them both right. I did notive a little wear on the intake side of the cylinder. Is this normal? 22 cm domes 130 lbs at 1000 ft above seal level. Sound right? namura pistons
Rare Scottish Tree Badger
Unless the wear is excessive, I'd imagine it's just where the rings have seated themselves in the bore. 130psi sounds fine for 1000ft/ 22cc domes. Rare.
