i have bought a !st over cylinder on ebay but it has a small amt of damage on the lower side of the exhaust port. this is a couple of chips about 1-2mm by 1-2mm without any other damage. will this come out with porting or is it shot and i should return it. i hate to send it back since it is such a small bore and i could get a lot of use out of it.This is an rz cylinder with power valves.

Difficult for anyone to say for sure without seeing it. Your porter is your best bet. ...

The bottom of the exhaust port is at or below the top of the piston at BDC (on the Banshee cylinders anyway), so cleaning up the edges of the chips may be ok for the rings. Also, after porting, the barrell will probably be taken back by another bore size which will reduce the damage area. (Back and down - because of the angle of the port). And then the bevelling of the ports will work in your favour too.

I'm not a machinist, so don't take the above as gospel. I'm sure there are others here that can give you a more qualified answer.

Rare.
