aschultz91 Posted June 26, 2005 Report Posted June 26, 2005 I recently purchased a 1998 Banshee. The airbox is removed wiht K&N filters and a dyno 2in1 exhuast. It has a lonestar axle and new tires and thats about it. Im pretty new to 2 strokes and Banshees but have some experience wiht 4 stroke bikes and quads which i never did much performance work on. I wanted to speed up my banshee. What would you guys reccomend first? I was thinkin about changin the pipes a mayb some Noss Coolheads? What size domes would u reccomend? Quote
05bansh Posted June 26, 2005 Report Posted June 26, 2005 (edited) Pipes, Reeds, Noss Head, Lighten Flywheel, Advance Timing. Then if you want to spend more $ where the real power is = Port, bigger carbs. We need to know your elevation and if you want to run pump or race gas for your domes. Or pm Dlnoss. decon Posted June 26, 2005 Report Posted June 26, 2005 (edited) first get a set of new pipes and the noss coolhead. then get porting and worry about bolt ons later, you wil be much happier with porting. like 05bansh said, talk to dlnoss about your elevation and if u want to run pump gas or race gas, he will tell you what domes you need. as for pipes, for the trails: fatty's, dmc's, pt mids. for the dunes: cpi's, shearer's, rocket's, t5's. if you ride all around you'd probly be much happier with fatty's. aschultz91 Posted June 27, 2005 Author Report Posted June 27, 2005 I ride on my small farm which consists of just grass and dirt and the railroad tracks which are flat wiht large stones and goes for miles and connects into an old quarry. I dont live near any dunes so that is pretty much out. So mostly trail riding. I wanna run normal pump gas which premium be any better to run or just the regular stuff? I was thinkining possibly toomey t-5's. Would FMF Fatties be better for my type of riding. I live in North New JErsey im pretty sure the altitude is around 300-400 feet not positive on that though. Thanks for your help Quote
decon Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 well if where you ride is wide open i would go for some high revs, but you cant go wrong with fattys, I would say its personal preference. I would go with either t5's or rockets for wide open riding, but for like tight trails and forests, fattys. Quote
Dead Op Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 To my perspective the t-5 and fatty in power wise are almost the same, the t-5 has a little snappier top but then the fatty comes in, i raced my cousin with t-5s he pulled away in 5th then shifted, once i hit 6th gear i pulled back up and we were about neck and neck so now it only comes down to which brand you prefer Quote
race-a-holic Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 I prefered the T-5 over the fatty.I'd get the toomey needles also.Porting makes a BIG difference in a banshee also.I got a shaved stock head on my banshee.Cheaper than a cool head.Bigger carbs. will give you more top end also. Quote
