MILO Posted June 25, 2005 Report Posted June 25, 2005 my buddy's having some prob's with his shee pushing the coolant all to the res bottle and overflowing it. it pretty much starts loading up the bottle after starting it and overflows shortly after, being barely warmed up. i haven't looked at it, but they say they have the hoses all routed correctly. he just did a top end rebuild, but didn't touch the impeller or anything and is assuming it's fine. i can't imagine why it would overflow the bottle other than being routed incorrectly. any ideas? Animalman294 Posted June 25, 2005 Report Posted June 25, 2005 (edited) I read a post a while back about rerouting the lines and moving the resevoir bottle to the front of the bike. This is done mainly because of how the Shee is designed. If the bike is running hot and you are going down hill. Relocating the bottle and routing the tubing up over the stearing neck doesn't allow the fluid to siphon out and onto your pipes. Do a search on here and it will have pictures and a better explanation. I will look for it and post it if I can find it again, unless someone is more familiar with the post and knows the address. Hope this helps............. Found it http://kuoi.asui.uidaho.edu/~john/tips.html Edited June 25, 2005 by Animalman294 Quote
Timmy301 Posted June 25, 2005 Report Posted June 25, 2005 Could be the stock impeller gear is stripped out and is not doing its job. Quote
Rare Scottish Tree Badger Posted June 25, 2005 Report Posted June 25, 2005 Could be a head gasket leak to the water jacket. Was the head torqued down correctly and re-torqued after heat cycles. ... A compression check will help to confirm or dismiss this. Rare. Quote

MILO Posted June 26, 2005 Author Report Posted June 26, 2005 thanks guys, i'll have to let him know your suggestions. he put a new head gasket on today but is still having problems. my other buddy said they didn't quite torque the bolts as spec'd cuz they were worried they were gonna strip. i figured as long as the threads didn't appear messed up at all, it should be fine to torque it properly. he decided to take it back to the shop monday to have them tear into it. i'll have to tell him again to check the impeller, like you guys mentioned b-4 he does that. they were assuming it was fine since it seemed ok before and didn't have it out. i'll pass it all on to him. thanks.
