i just got my top end rebuilt on my bike.i ran it through its first heat cycle and it ran fine.i fired it up a couple of weeks later and is started to run weird.. darker than normal smoke started to come out..it wouldnt idle and i noticed that the right side was not fireing as much as the left until i give it alot more gas????

ive fired it up a couple of times and still does the same thing

 

the bike is bored out .25 over 20cc domes

mixhas always been 100 octane 40/1

re-torque the head and jug bolts, check to make sure all clamps, lines, bolts & choke tube are all snug and in place, then warm the bike up and ride it a bit and then see what it dose.

Go over what Shee-Male said above.

 

If it was me, I'd do a compression check to rule out a ring problem, (good for a fresh rebuild reference anyway). I'd pay good attention to the plugs. ... They're probably choked up from the rebuild and long idling from the heat cycle if your low running settings are on the rich side.

 

But you said two weeks later ( :confused: ) it cleared after "a lot more gas" so they might be ok. ... Put some fresh plugs in anyway and get it warmed up good and before long do some running in the lower end of the power band to clear out the cases. It takes a decent amount of RPMs to get the oil lifted into suspenssion from the bottom of the case.

 

Should be good to go after that.

 

Why the rebuild? ... Time for it, or a failure?
