hey guys. when i was riding before i noticed that when i downshift my shifter has alot of play in it like the rod that comes out. i cant move it up and down maybe and inch or two. when i upshift though its normal. what do you think i did? is it still ok to ride it like this? if i do keep riding it what will it wreck. and how can i fix it?

It's ok to ride it, mine does that when im in first gear once in a while when i go to shift down forgettin im in first i notice it, happens little for me

ya its constant on mine. but is it minor then?

Mine use to do the same thing. I believe it was just the rebound spring or whatever in your shifter.

You should have bought the Clymer manual I sold for $10....

Get a clymer manual or just tear your engine down and rebuild it. You can learn a lot from just doing that once or twice. The problem you are talking about sounds like something with that little fork thingy that grabs the shift cog on the clutch side of your case. Probably the spring inside there is just weak.
