bansheefreestyler Posted June 20, 2005 Report Posted June 20, 2005 hey guys. when i was riding today the nut holding my front sprocket on cam off and then my sprocket shot off. so do i tighten the nut with a sprocket and how tight. can i put loctite on it so it doesnt come off again? Quote
eehsnab2 Posted June 20, 2005 Report Posted June 20, 2005 (edited) There should be a washer lock behind the sprocket the folds over the nut to keeps it from rotating.. Kinda looks like a big washer that has one side that folds up to the nut... Edited June 20, 2005 by eehsnab2 Quote

eehsnab2 Posted June 20, 2005 Report Posted June 20, 2005 Personally I wouldnt run my bike without the correct washer. The washer has some notches in it where the grooves fit onto the shaft. When you install the washer you need to make sure that the grooves line up when you are tightening the nut. Quote
NEVER SATISFIED Posted June 20, 2005 Report Posted June 20, 2005 engineers put that washer there for a reason i am ABSOLUTELY SUPRISED that it flew off if you had it on there correctly. GO GET A NEW ONE. Quote

bansheefreestyler Posted June 21, 2005 Author Report Posted June 21, 2005 ya i had it on there right. when i was putting it on i made sure that it was in the groves. i was amazed when i noticed it was gone. i thought i blew my front sprocket right off or apart. also on my sprocket there is threaded holes. for those can i take a thin washer and bolt it onto that and then bend two sides up? i would order one from yamy but the closest dealer is 3 hours away and would take 3 days to get here Quote
87banshee388 Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 i believe you torque the nut to about 60 foot lbs. then you take a hammer and a screw driver and bend part of the washer over one of the sides of the nut so the nut can not come off. its hapen to me before out on the ice it suck. Quote
