i bought a uni foam filter due to the K&N failing on the bike..costing me a rebuild....but my bike did not come with the stock air filter cage( i guess that is what you would call it) so does the uni filter just chill on the intake peice or do i need the filter cage???

We need more info to help you, Do you have the Uni filter that goes in the stock airbox (Pro flo Adapter) or do you have the pods?

I don't believe the uni even has a flange to mount it to the airbox without the cage does it.

The stock air filter cannot be separated from the plastic cage. The uni filters are stiff enough that they do no need a cage to hold their shape but you do need the air box adapter flange for it to clamp on to, or at least thats how the one I had worked, the adapter came with the filter in a kit. You can buy one from Uni if you don't already have one.

I have a 2 in 1 air filter and I dont have a air box at all. the problem I had is my filter just sets hanging from my carbs. So I have to zipp tie them up so they dont hang down or come off. As long as u clean the rubbers and they dont have any grease on them they will stay good and tight. like they say always keep an eye on them every chance u get.
