TREELIZARD Posted June 2, 2005 Report Posted June 2, 2005 hey guys yesterday i took the shee out for a ride, made a couple full throttle runs and then pulled it into the driveway and the radiator was smoking like a son of a bitch and coolant was dripping onto the pipes, i think that my waterpump impeller might be shot (its still the stock impeller) but how can it tell for sure. and does the pro design impeller make a noticeable difference. i dont think that the problem is the jetting because i ran the same setup last year with no overheating. sredish Posted June 2, 2005 Report Posted June 2, 2005 Yea, they help. For as cheap as they are, just get one off of Ebay and put it in, then you'll know. Quote
MotulMonsta Posted June 2, 2005 Report Posted June 2, 2005 Stock impellar is pretty tough...Mine was going strong for 14 years before I replaced it with a pro design one. Nothing wrong with it when I pulled it out. Your going to have to pull the side case off to inspect it. Perhaps you just crapped out that cheesy plastic gear on the end. Check your bearings, a seized bearing will cause the pump to lock up and chew the gear up. It's a simple and relitively inexpensive fix. Quote
TREELIZARD Posted June 2, 2005 Author Report Posted June 2, 2005 thanks for the replies i will start to tear into it next weekend. Quote
05bansh Posted June 3, 2005 Report Posted June 3, 2005 I look at the aftermarket impellar as cheap insurance. Quote

fixitrod Posted June 3, 2005 Report Posted June 3, 2005 Just some things to check on pull cap when cool but running If you see flow you impellar is probably fine If you see airbubbles you could have a head gasket leak. If you hit the gas when cold then pull the cap and it's pressurized it could be the head gasket. If it seems to be flowing without pressure try this... http://kuoi.asui.uidaho.edu/~john/tips.html Quote
