watkins Posted June 1, 2005 Report Posted June 1, 2005 I just ordered some new pipes and am going to be jetting for the first time ever. The main issue is that there is no place to ride anywhere nearby so a plug chop will be difficult. Would it work at all to put a large fan in front, raise the rear tires off the ground and run it through all the greats at WOT? Or would it not give me an accurate reading? Quote
JKJK Posted June 1, 2005 Report Posted June 1, 2005 Na don't bother that won't tell you jack. You need to have a load on the motor.Post what you have for pipes, your elevation, temp+,filter set up.I'm sure the people here can suggest a good starting point ,so you can safely dial it in+get you real close to start with. watkins Posted June 1, 2005 Author Report Posted June 1, 2005 K&N, No Lid, FMF SST's, FMF TC2's. I was thinkin 300 mains, stock pilot, 2 turns out on the airscrew and 1 notch down on the needle Quote
JKJK Posted June 1, 2005 Report Posted June 1, 2005 Assumeing your at sea level at 70deg.That sounds a little to lean on the mains.I have never run those pipes but i think they like a richer pilot.the 25 is ok to start with but you might want to have a 27.5 on hand.Someone with those pipes will hopefully chime in+get you in the ball park.I'm guessing start with 340 mains. SANDSTAR Posted June 2, 2005 Report Posted June 2, 2005 Just stick a couple new plugs in your pocket and a cresent wrench in your sock at your riding spot. Get her good and warm, throw the new plugs in, put the old ones in your pocket, pin her in sixth, clutch, kill, put old plugs in, ride home. Camel packs are great for holding extra plugs, a crescent wrench, beer, joints, muscle relaxers, black beautys, cameras(so your friends don't call you a liar when you find 2 lipstick lesbians playing hide the Milk Vetch stick out in the middle of Glamis).
