rzcolobanshee Posted May 31, 2005 Report Posted May 31, 2005 Stripped the frame and need to call around for helicoil, anyone know who stocks em? Quote
sj820 Posted May 31, 2005 Report Posted May 31, 2005 I believe the thread and pitch size is M10 with a 1.25 pitch. I went online and found the kit. They are all over the place! The kit comes with the helicoils, tap and helicoil inserter but I had to buy a 13/32 drill bit. Since I put the helicoils in my frame I have not had any problems! For some reason the mild steel that Yamaha uses is very soft and strips easily when overtorqing! I have also seen problems with the footpegs bending down on the stock frames! All I have to say is no fat chicks!!!! One of my friends permanently welded Raptor pegs to his Banshee! While they look stupid they are much better than the stock pegs! Quote
rzcolobanshee Posted May 31, 2005 Author Report Posted May 31, 2005 Thanks man, now I just need to find em locally cause I need it by this weekend! Quote
Dark Ranger Posted May 31, 2005 Report Posted May 31, 2005 Almost any auto parts store should have them. Quote
boonman Posted May 31, 2005 Report Posted May 31, 2005 I drilled and re-tapped my frame holes to 7/16"-20 thread. Worked fantastic. A good hardware store will have a kit... Quote
rzcolobanshee Posted May 31, 2005 Author Report Posted May 31, 2005 Thanks booner, I'll have to try that, damn helicoil kit was $60 Quote
sredish Posted May 31, 2005 Report Posted May 31, 2005 Boon's right. Drill it and retap it for the bigger sized bolt and it will work like a champ. Scott Quote
spurdy Posted June 1, 2005 Report Posted June 1, 2005 I had the same thing happen. I said f the thread repair and tapped the hole to an M12 and have had no trouble since. It was cheaper than investing in the helicoil or thread insert kit. Quote
