87sheerips Posted May 31, 2005 Report Posted May 31, 2005 Man i had a rough time in the dunes. My shift star got stuck, fixed it, then my rear carrier bolt snapped, chain fell off, and hole stripped. I have the old school set up (87) that is horrible fir holding uo to anything. I retapped my own holes but that metal is too soft and the pitch is very smal (125) for that app. Any suggestions on what to do here, i dont really have the cash for a new setup quite yet. I plant on retapping with a big fatty bolt. Any suggestions whould be great!! Quote
spurdy Posted June 1, 2005 Report Posted June 1, 2005 I had the same issues with my carrier. I went to a fine thread bolt because they handle vibration better. I drilled through the frame flange for clearance. I bolted through the carrier and the frame with a lock washer and nut using red locktight. It is not the easiest to take apart however it has never come loose during a ride Quote
