I'm sending my jugs out for some port work(finally). I figured that while it's apart, i might as well do a top end rebuild too.< First one on these cylinders, 5 years old

After taking the jugs off, i noticed that the inside is very smooth (no scratches, chips, nicks or dings)...

Does it need to be bored, or maybe just honed?

You might have the guy doing your porting check the cylinder dimensions for you with a bore guage; he's probably got one. According to the book, new bore measurements are 64.00 to 64.02 mm, with a service wear limit of 64.10 mm. That's a fair amount to play with, so if you can get a good measurement with the bore guage, that will tell you the way to go. I would probably just plan on doing a bore to the next size up since you'll already be doing most of the work to put it new again anyway.
