My buddy's shee started acting up and we're tryin to figure it out. He bought it off some guy on the side of the road pretty cheap. It has 34mm carbs and supposed to have a brand new 404 kit in it. A couple days after he bought it one cylinder just died during a ride and oil started coming out of the silencer (right side). He called me and I told him to check the plugs probably fowled. It was black and oily as hell. Put in new plug, ran great. I thought it was a bad crank seal. He came down for a ride the next weekend and we changed the oil and plugs for a ride the next day. This time the plugs still looked new, but we changed them anyway. About 3 hrs into the ride the next day, same thing, right side dies, more oil from silencer. This time when we pulled the plugs, right side didn't look that bad, just looked like it had been flooded, but the left was black as hell.

The thing thats got me is that the oil in the cylinder can be sparatic like it is. It's fine for a few days, plugs stay clean, then all of a sudden they fowl out. If it were a crank seal or something leaking, wouldn't it leak all the time?

I went over to take another peak at it yesterday before he comes back in town for the weekend and noticed one of the chokes on the carbs doesn't seem to work. And the place where stock carbs have a balance tube between them, his 34mm's have 2 extra drain tubes coming off the carbs(2 per carb). Is this normal for the 34mm's? Could there be a prob with the carbs causing all this crap? What about something electrical causing one cylinder to lose spark every now and then? Anyone with some ideas, we're open for suggestions??????????

Not for sure, but maybe a bad plug wire.I've never had one go bad on my banshee, but it might be something to look at.Are you getting spark to both plugs?Might check to see what the main jets are.Sounds crazy but make sure they are the same.Make sure the clip on the needles are in the same slot on the needle. My 35mm pwk's have the drain tubes,so I wouldn't worry about that.Maybe someone else will have some suggestions.

Mine did the same thing with 34 pjs. You are just running rich. Do a plug chop. you are prolly ok on top, but at idle or just off idle you foul the hell outta the plugs. Play with the clips on the needle. That was the circut that was giving me hell. Go a little leaner and see what happens.
