Last weekend my friends and I went riding, and all morning this guy on a quadzilla 500 kept eyeballing my banshee, no matter where I went, there he was, watching me go by. Later in the day, he started following me, so I stopped and he rode up to me and started asking questions about my shee. After a few minutes of bullshittin, he just came out and said "I just got this thing rebuilt, piped, and jetted, and only came out here to race a banshee." I said OK, where?. His buddies led us up to a small strip by a field and we raced 5 times, and I smoked him good all 5. My friend said I was locking up my brakes, while the other guy was still grabbing gears! He came up and said "We need more room!" and my friend said "why, so he can beat you even worse?" lol.

I thought he just was'nt that good of a rider, but I watched him later race raptors, 450s, DSs, and a KFX700, and beat all of them, except the 450, which was a closer race. He was a nice guy, not cocky or anything, but I still had fun leaving his quadzilla in the dust.

Beating quadzillas and cocky riders is always fun. Yesterday we were out at the dunes chilling around the usual drag hill then 3 zillas come up to make a long story short I smoked them all by at least 2 lengths and was still pulling away when we got to the top. :headbang: made me remember why i just spent $2500 on her :bolt:

Damn I glad I came across this post! I ran into a guy a couple days ago with a zilla for sale on the side of the road. I just stopped to check it out and kill some time cause I haven't seen one in years. The guy tells me about it, what all it's got and so on. I mention that I ride a shee, and the shit talkin starts! He says it will smoke anything including my shee! Then tells me we can race for anything I want, cash, pinks, whatever.... All this without even seeing my bike or asking what I got on it. At this point I'm thinkin either he's just a dumb redneck hick, or he's got a badass zilla. He says he's owned 2 banshees so he knows what he's talkin about.

Here's the thing, he says he just had a new factory bore cylinder and piston put on it. So as far as I can see all it's got is a FMF and a K&N. Carb looks stock, I assume it's got different reeds, but didn't ask.

I have T-5s, ProFlow, milled head, TDR reeds, and small shit like that, but motor is still stock. Should I try this ass, or just leave it alone? I can hang right with a friends shee with a 404 kit, 34 mm carbs, pipes, K&N, etc, and another friend has a pretty tricked out 450R that I spank at will.....if this helps any.

I wouldn't do that.Several of my friends have ported quadzillas, and I never beat them before I got my banshee ported. Now that it's ported and on alcohol, that's a different story.I'm sure you heard the 100 mph story.Blah,blah,blah.

i own a 87, the year they made 53-55hp, the other years made 51-53hp, mainly a larger reed area, and larger tranfer ports. if you take a stock 87 against a 88-90 zilla, you will FEEL a difference in power betwwen the two, that is why the 87 cylinders crack when ported, the walls are already thin.i have raced shees, yfz's and 450r's at the strip,(i own a alky shee too) and i have never got beat by any other gas shee, a zilla hooks up unlike the tire spining shee, and it the zilla IS the fastest stock bike ever made in top end speed, .go on and race one on ashalt in the 1/8 mile and you will feel pretty dumb  ,and the weight on them is 390lbs, 4 more than a shee!

the fmf pipe is a good around pipe for them, however they run alot stronger with a trinity outframe or ct pipe

what are you talkin about willis? the 87 was the worst year by far of the zillas they actaully only made like 40 rwhp anyways .i agree ,they can be quick no doubt but mod for mod they will not hang with a she, not trying to start some lame ass keyboard race its just a fact the zilla cant rev over 9,000+ rpm and a she can hit 11,000rpm+ for being a 500 its only a tad quicker in stock form and cant hold together for shit once its ported for high power.the weights are (386)she and (392) zilla . the 87 had a thick ass liner btw you can bore it to 3.5 mm over thats.138 oversize! the porting was very crude and was considered archaic even for the 80's .there head had not enough studs in it (blown head gaskets),it also had cooling issues and the big reed had bad velocity and made it a lazy rever, not to mention the jug base is very thin (less than 1/8"strip)and bends and warps very easily under the reed box area.i had a built-up ported 87 ,it was ver yfast and torquey as hell but would get its ass handed to it by a 4 mill she every damn time  they are fun machines ,but i couldnt keep up on the parts and labor

I don't know jack about zillas, but 55 HP from the factory  , come on, that seems a little high. i think I'm gonna have to call bullshit on that one!

tthe 88-ups made close to that ,but look in your manual theyre 392lbs for 88-up .the 87 was even heavier with those beefy ass A arms. that chart is very meaningless btw it tells nothing about how the power is delivered ,gearing, its torque, the power curve characteristics ,the traction of the bike, the rpms ,and much more there is a shit load of factors it doesnt take into account for ,its just a general chart showing only a sketchy peak reading # and comparing it to known weights which arent even very accurate .
