REV-I-DOO Posted May 20, 2005 Report Posted May 20, 2005 Ok, here's the deal............ It starts on the first kick without choking it. Seems to stumble and load up when it's cold and from idle to abbout 1/2 throttle when it's warm. It acts like the pilot circuit is rich but I have the stock pilots in it and I should have to go richer with the mods......... no? Here's the mods....... Pro Circuit pipes K&N pods ported/polished (don't know who did it) Boyesen reeds with spacers Stock carbs without TORS 300 MAINS 25 PILOTS Aftermarket needle (not sure who makes it but it's longer in length and the taper is longer and alot thinner). Anyone out there running a simular setup? Please help! Quote
NEVER SATISFIED Posted May 21, 2005 Report Posted May 21, 2005 (edited) im runnin similar setup.. im at sea level .. ive got pc pipes.. ported pods and v force.. those are the only things i have that effect the air fuel ratio. i've got a 420 main air screw turned out .5 from seat and needle in stock place with a 25 pilot. runs like a champ i pull 17 front tooth sprocket with no probs bogging. as for that after market needle ya got there.... sounds a little lean to me.. try going down one clip on the needle move it towards the tapered side one clip. sheecandy Posted May 21, 2005 Report Posted May 21, 2005 i had pro circuit dual k&ns v force valves and ported cylinders 32.5 pilots 5th click on needle and 350 mains ran great at sea level Quote
dajogejr Posted May 21, 2005 Report Posted May 21, 2005 I'd bet money you have the dynojet/toomey jet kit. Those needles are much longer, and I've heard they are Blaster needles. Can't be 100% sure on that last part. This is a dumb question, but...are your air filter(s) clean...unobstructed? I'd turn in the air screws .5 turns out...and go from there. Usually aftermarket pipes like 1 size fatter pilot...and I've read some FMF's like 2 fatter. Definately sounds like you're rich...though. At least you have it narrowed down. Put stock needles back in and try the middle clip... Quote

REV-I-DOO Posted May 22, 2005 Author Report Posted May 22, 2005 Thanks! I just put the stock needles in and I'll give it a try tomorrow. Quote
dajogejr Posted May 22, 2005 Report Posted May 22, 2005 (edited) Loco...let me assure you the Toomey kit/Dynojet needles are longer. I have 'em. Got the kit from Magic. http://www.magicracing.com/product.asp?itemid=1340&catid=75 Came with stickers...he he. Needles and 270 and 280 main jets. that's it. Oh, and a spacer for the needles.... Once you install the Toomey/Dynojet needles it's "akward" pulling the mains out, cause they're so long. My shee runs fine...IF I had problems, I'd change the needle back to stock. Again, the Toomey kit is in fact a longer needle. I'd go back to stock, as said...and go from there!! Next time I take my shit apart, I'll be sure to take a photo of each!! Nightrider Posted May 22, 2005 Report Posted May 22, 2005 I had Pc pipes on both my shees at one time, totally different machines, but the setup was still the same. Both had K+N filter, modded airbox 27.5-30 pilots,300-310 mains, stock needle in the 2nd clip from top.(one notch leaner than stock. Was really hesitant about leaning out the needle,I thought for sure that it would be the opposite, but it was the only way to get the middle/top of the porcelin a choco brown and eliminate the light stumble. One had Pc pipes,k&n,vforce,140 psi,+4 timing, stock piston, modded airbox. The other had Pc pipes,k&n,boysen rad valve,170 psi,+4 timing, power pistons, modded airbox With the exception of one size on the mains, they were setup exactly the same. dajogejr Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 Glad to hear it's screaming again. I've heard more bad then good about the toomey/dynojet needles, after I installed them...of course. I've had no issues with them, mine is dialed in...and plugs look beautiful!!! Quote
