heres the deal I been coming up from a rebuild, when i got to the clutch last night i was noticing clymer has a picture of a spacer that goes in between the clutch boss and the clutch basket I kept everything together in my clutch just slid it all off, but when i was puting it back together i noticed that i didnt have one but i have 2 spacers niether of which looks like they go on there ,they both have play on the shaft, does anyone know what im talking about and or have a pic, or can tell me where to get one?

My clutch basket is ready to come off in the morning. (Just need to find my 27mm socket!). ... I'll take a pic of what's behind there if you still need it tomorrow.

 

I think what you're talking about that you have are 'thrust plates'. ... The order of removal in my 'Yamaha Service Manual' is:

 

Remove:

- Clutch boss

- Thrust plate

- Clutch housing

- Spacer

- Thrust plate

Edit: From the pic in this manual, the thrust plates look like washers and the spacer is quite a substantial piece of steel. ... 1" - 1 1/2 maybe. :shrugani:

pics would def. help the one in my manual is a thrust washer looks like it is made with grooves to slide on the spline between the clutch boss and the basket....thanks for the help, may have to pay like $10.00 for one at the shop banghead

#1 and 4 are the thick thrust washers/spacers. One goes behind the clutch basket and the other one goes on after the basket before the inner clutch boss/hub. I have some if you need one shoot me a pm!

 

P.S. Make sure they dont have grooves worn in them and make sure to oil them up before installation.

The #4 you show there looks like what I have out there but there is play on the shaft, i'm going to go check it all out and see If I need it thanks. :cheers:

What's the torque spec for putting the flywheel back on?

Make sure to use locktite on the flywheel nut !
