How to determine year of motor?

I have just purchased my first Banshee, a 1995 stocker and received an extra motor with the deal. I am curious to find out what year the extra motor is. I was able to locate the numbers 3GG-037168 on the motor but unsure if this will tell anything about the age. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

just take that number and call your dealer. they can tell you what year it came from. there is also a chart floating around in space somewhere that decodes engine numbers, but i dunno where.
