hotrodbanshee Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 There is a buzzing noise that does not sound normal to me and seems to be getting louder overtime. It's coming from my clutch. It makes the noise when the bike is in neutral. Most of the noise goes away when the clutch lever is pulled in. Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong? Could the adjuster bolt in the pressure plate cause this? I am going to try and pull the clutch cover off in the next few days and inspect it.I have tusk clutch plates/fibers installed. Quote
98basketbanshee Posted May 11, 2005 Report Posted May 11, 2005 did you take the stock rubber rings out of the clutch pack those are for noise also tusk clutches are very very cheeply made well good luck Quote
Nightrider Posted May 11, 2005 Report Posted May 11, 2005 (edited) Its probably your clutchshaft bearing.Does your oil come out gray/silver when you change it?If it does, then you may have a bad bearing. The reason why the noise goes away when the clutch is pulled,is because the pushrod helps to stabalize the basket. The gray/silver in the oil is actually metal particles from the clutch/crank gear. Had this problem last year with my 87'.After I changed the bearing, the noise went away and the oil comes out as clean as it goes in.No more metal coloring. I ran mine like this all summer before looking into the problem. The gears showed very minimal wear as a result. Edited May 11, 2005 by Nightrider Quote
