TuHandy Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 I am a new owner of a 1998 Banshee, Just had a couple questions while reading these forums. What is TORS? and why should it be removed? What should the compression be on a stock motor? I tested mine and it was approx. 120 psi in both holes. Is this about right? Only thing that is not stock is FMF pipe and 260 main jets. Thanks Quote
bigboybanshee Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 TORS is a "throttle over-ride system" which is designed to make your life hell. J/P Seriously though, the TORS tend to short out, malfunction, and fall apart which of course is not good, and they can easily be replaced with an aftermarket cap that makes jetting changes simpler and cleans up the appearance of the carbs. You will not lose any performance, etc. from removing the TORS, you will gain easier access to the carbs and one less possibility for part failure. The TORS were designed to keep your throttle from sticking (so I'm told) but you don't need a TORS system to shut your bike down, that's what we have the "on/off" switch for in my opinion...someone else may be able to give a better description of what exactly the TORS do other than add grief to your banshee. LOL Compression at sea level altitude should be 120 psi stock. Sounds like you're doing good on the top end Oh yeah, welcome to the forums!! Quote
TuHandy Posted April 28, 2005 Author Report Posted April 28, 2005 Thank you for the information. What or where should I look, to get an aftermarket cap, or all necessary hardware to replace these TORS? Quote
sheefreak Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 Vito's sells a kit for I believe around $50. They advertise in dirtwheels, not sure if they have a website. Quote
