yamahajunky38 Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 alright, so i was riding the shee and all of a sudden it just stalled on me. i checked my gas and i had a decent amount, so i tried to start it, about 20 kicks later i realized that it wasn't going to start. i brought it home, on my trailer, and i put new spark plugs in and kicked it once and ran for about 2-3 seconds and stalled. my dad and i checked all the connections around the cdi and about every other connection there is to check, kicked it over and nothing happened. i don't really know what's wrong with it and it's really starting to bother me, now that it's nice out and i can actually ride. ANY INFO is greatly appreciated sorry about the long description........ Quote
Dead Op Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 This was happening to me a while ago, do you have your tors removed, it seem that you are getting liomited spark, itll catch on a god time, and then it wont! once it gerts hot it doesnt produce a good enoug hspark aka your stalling. remove all of the tors parts, the ysaid some p[eople have problems like this with the crappy system. good luck:cheers: Quote
Wallrat Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 Not starting is always going to be a fuel, air, tors or spark issue. Pull your plugs and put the caps back on. Wrap a rag around the cap, touch the plug to the head for a ground and kick it over - you should see spark. If you got spark, pull the fuel hoses going into the carbs and turn on the fuel to make sure you have flow. Do you still have the TORS installed? Also have you checked your compression? Low compression can also cause difficulty starting. Try those steps and report back what you find. Then we'll figure it out from there. Quote
FIRST BANSHEE Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 I kinda had the same problem, I parked my 250r after a day of riding went to start it a few weeks later on spark or interminent spark. my problem ended up being the coil. Quote
yamahajunky38 Posted April 25, 2005 Author Report Posted April 25, 2005 i still have the tors installed and i haven't checked the compression-i don't have the right tools to check the compression-i pulled the hoses and the gas is flowing and i did a spark test and i'm getting spark thanx for the help so far Quote
NEVER SATISFIED Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 whens the last time you checked your jets for clogging..... seems to happen a lot if you dont have a inline fuel filter. Quote
yamahajunky38 Posted April 27, 2005 Author Report Posted April 27, 2005 that happened to me when i had my warrior one tme, my main jet got clogged, it ran, but like crap and my shee isn't running at all............ Quote
NEVER SATISFIED Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 my pilot got clogged on my shee and wouldnt start... could poss be an airleak too. do any current mods to it? Quote
Wallrat Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 I would invest in a good compression tester. Even if that isn't the problem this time, eventually it will be. Knowing your compression will save you alot of grief. I wish I could help with the process of removing the TORS but my shee came without it so I don't really know that much in that area. I know they sell kits to do it and I think you can piece together everything you need yourself. Again, removing the TORS is something you should do now, even if it isn't what's causing this specific problem. While you have your carbs off, go ahead and give em a good cleaning and sync them up. Let us know what you find. Quote
yamahajunky38 Posted April 27, 2005 Author Report Posted April 27, 2005 about how much does a compression tester go for?? could part of my problem be my jetting? when i got the shee, it had the T5's on it and jetted properly and i haven't touched the jetting, the only time the jetting was adjusted was when i had it in for some work and i had the mechanic cleaned the carbs, thats the only time it was messed with. i drained all of the gas, changed my oil, put new spark plugs in and now i just need to get my carbs cleaned. i'll have to remove the TORS, it seems like this might be part of the problem thanks for the help Quote
TuHandy Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 Yes, I am a new banshee owner (1998) and I am having a hard starting issue that seems to be the same. I just bought the banshee and I did a compression test on it for informational purposes. I got approx. 120 psi in both holes. Is this ok for a stock motor? The only thing I have done is put FMF pipes on and re jet to 260's. It was running very poor and checked the plugs (very rich). Then I was told to remove snorkel off air box. I did and It runs great. Plugs look good now. Seems to be getting a light spark and plenty of fuel but very hard to start (if it does start). What is TORS???? And why should it be removed? Thanks for the help Quote
