Capone Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 I found a guy around here that has: "2 into 1 carb kit, 38mm air striker carb, k&n filter, twist throttle, fmf reeds, 3/4" reed spacers, all bolts, orings included. no problems, everything works great!!! " Current mods: '03 Shee 370cc K&N Pods Boyseen PowerReeds CoolHead - 18cc (110 octane) RickyStator Adj. Timing Plate (+5) Wiseco ProLites FMF Fatty - PowerCore's I don't got any porting yet, that I've done anyway, so I know the 38's will be big, but I plan on porting in the near future. I ride alot of roads(top end) will the 38mm make up for it? or should I just sell it? and will the manifold be too big for the 35mm? Thanks for the fast replies! Quote
frocashmoney24 Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 well this setup is for a single 38, which wouldent be ideal for top end, that would be the 2 carb route, the single is sweet for trails, woods, mx, ect. the 35 will mount up just find, just gotta get the right size carb boot for it, and i think the 38's will fit Quote

sredish Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 Would top end porting help out for the loss by a single carb? 357306[/snapback] Actually, not to contradict anyone, but the bigger 38 will hinder the bottom end over the 35 and the 33. The top end will perform better with the 38 as the air velocity will be much greater at higher rpms. The main problem I've found with the bigger single carbs is low rpm air velocity. This can be helped with porting and reeds and such to increase air flow. I've also found that a needle change will probably be required for proper jetting. I wouldn't get a top end port job with that carb, get a mx or woods type port job. the woods port will help your bottom end, midrange and your top end as well, it'll let your motor breathe better from top to bottom which is the key for those larger single carb setups. The Fatties will be an ideal pipe for that carb setup. Don't get me wrong, when you get the single carb setup right, it's awesome. Scott Quote
FIRST BANSHEE Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 I run a 38mm on mine without porting, helped the top and hurt the bottom very little over the 35mm. you shouln't have any trouble with it. good luck Quote
