scottt89 Posted April 2, 2005 Report Posted April 2, 2005 I have a Pro Design Kill switch that I plan on putting in one of these days, I'm sure it wont be a problem, but my question is this: My buddy has had several Banshees since 91, this is my first. When he had a Kill Switch on his he swore that he didn't have to remove the key. Is there a way this can be done? I keep the Bike in the garage, and just feel more comfortable having the Key. Quote
banshdog Posted April 2, 2005 Report Posted April 2, 2005 You dont have to remove the key when installing a tether. Does the pro design have 2 wires? if so, connect the black to the frame and the other to the orange wire running into the black coil box ( I think it is the coil box) under the gas tank on the right side. That should do it. Quote
BenBB Posted April 2, 2005 Report Posted April 2, 2005 Banshdog is right, you don't need to eliminate the key switch. You can also wire the tether to the black/white and black wires that the handlebar kill switch uses, just piggyback the tether wires to those two (the ground wire of the tether should go to the black ground wire). Both the handlebar kill switch and the tether work the same way; when black/white is grounded to black it tells the CDI to turn the ignition "off". Anyway using the coil will also work, I had mine wired that way and no probs but later found out that Dyna didn't recommend grounding the coil, and CDI's ain't cheap so I rewired my tether to use the black/white wire just in case. Good luck. Quote
