One of my buddies is on alky. He purges his at the end of every riding day. He has him a pretty good set-up to purge. He found him a bottle about the size of a ratio-rite mixer and put some gas lines on it. When he is finished riding for the day he just unhooks the lines from the tank and hooks his lines up from the bottle and it takes about 5 minutes to purge his bike. Not too bad.

And that's to get the alky out which is a water attracter/corrosive, right?

I believe so. I am not so sure of exactly what alky does to your engine if you leave it sitting in there after u ride. I know he premixes his gas with a lot of oil when he purges. At least 20:1 or more.

I know on my nitro/alcohol R/C car you are supposed to run them dry when done because of near instant corrosion if you leave fuel in.

you need to purge after you get done riding for the day.

I bought a nitro r/c car fuel bottle and fill it about half full of gas, then I undo the line at my petcock and insert the tip of the fuel bottle in it. Fire it up and work the throttle to keep it running.

If you don't purge after you get done riding, you run the risk of attracting moidture not only into the fule bowl of your carbs, but also in the crankcase, which will make your bearings rust.

also make sure to keep any extra alky you have in a sealed gas can. DO NOT leave the little vent cap open. And if you leave it in the tank, make sure you seal the vent tube that comes off the gas cap. I just use a little screw. Works great and fits in my pocket so I don't lose it.
