Percy Posted March 29, 2005 Report Posted March 29, 2005 At present my rear rims are flipped around, to be a bit wider. I am putting rear axle spacers on, as do mostly trail riding and want some more width. When I fit them should I flip the rear rims back to std, and only rely on the spacers for width, or can i leave the rim the way they are, plus the spacers, for even more width? Will axle be under too much pressure? Fronts are not flipped around. Cheers, Percy Quote
01bansheeke Posted March 29, 2005 Report Posted March 29, 2005 i would turn them back around. you can get to a point where you are too wide depending on what kind of riding you do. I think i'd do something with the front quick like. Quote
bigboybanshee Posted March 29, 2005 Report Posted March 29, 2005 I wouldn't keep the rear wheels flipped with the spacers...IMHO Quote
MILO Posted March 30, 2005 Report Posted March 30, 2005 I wouldn't keep the rear wheels flipped with the spacers...IMHO 346713[/snapback] i wouldn't either. going to wide by that method wil cause excess stress on your hubs, axle, carrier and bearings. if you want wider, doesn't somebody make a longer axle?? i'm sure they would be pricey though compared to shims.
