J-Madd Posted March 27, 2005 Report Posted March 27, 2005 My friend wants to add some extra power. His mods are: FMF ssts, K&N in box w/lid, boyesen rad valve/reeds. He's thinking about a big bore or a stroker kit, or both. What would be the best. He would like it set up for trail riding, hill climbing, possibly flat track racing. 1. Would SST's work with a big bore setup? 2. What size carbs with either set up? 3. And what's the difference between powervalve big bore kit and regular kit? 4. Stock crank ok with any of these? Thanks, and sorry for the long post. Quote

This set up for the money is the best bang for the buck. Also go cool head with stroker domes,no spacer plates. Quote
PassionRE Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 Agreed, big bores are over-rated, overpriced ,and ineffective compared to stroking and matched porting. Although ,on short track motors, IMO its easier to use the plate instead of stroker domes to build for the type of power needed to maintain torque off the turn and still have the top end speed to pull away on the straights. .....Jim Quote
njbanshee Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 I would go with the wiseco 4mm stroker, and just use the spacer, run a cool head with 17 or 18 cc domes and i would definitly invest in some bigger carbs to finish the deal. V-force reeds wouldn't be a bad idea either. Your looken at like $1500 to $2000. Its definitly worth every penny. Good luck. If you live in NJ i can get you a good deal on an install. Quote
