Hey guys,

This is way off topic, but you all seem to know alot about alot.

So here goes.

I was driving home the Xterra from Tulsa the other night and the gauges went out for about and hour and came back on... Anyone ever seen anything like that?

(no smoke, nothing burnt smelling, all the fuses were fine, the gauge cluster looks fine, no burns or hot spots on the circuit board, all wiring looks good, was just driving when it happened, no bumps or sudden changes) Happened a couple times now, so I'm getting concerned

Is it still under warranty? (or) have there been any recalls on it?

I dont know about the X, but there's a site for Dodge trucks that has a list of TSB's and recalls. Call the dealer to see if what you mentioned was a recall thingy, and let them worry about it...

If the whole cluster's going out, it might be a wiring harness connection...???

Have you tried searching the net for Xterra sites? I know they're out there. I dont know how many X's I've seen with WWW.Xsomething???.com on the back windows, in town.

Try this site.. click here

I found it doin a search.... do a search on there. I used the words "gauge cluster" under the general catagory, and it came up with "Instument Cluster Failure"..i tried to click it, but i think u have to be a registered member....thats too much work for me.....good luck

that happened on my hardbody. the main positive wire from the battery wasnt one, but a cluster of wires and one that controlled the accesories through out the car had come loose. thats where id start. but then again, it was a '90 model.
