jonnyrebel2004 Posted March 25, 2005 Report Posted March 25, 2005 I am going to put a hot rod long rod stroker crank in my shee. I am going to need everything. Should I try to buy a kit with everything in it or would I be better to try to buy all the parts seperate? If so where is the best place to buy everything? Do they sell kits anywhere besides ebay? Thanks Travis Quote
yfzdunegirl Posted March 25, 2005 Report Posted March 25, 2005 I pieced mine together but ordered the bulk of the parts from my builder. Find somebody that you want to do your porting first as that usually takes the longest. Then just buy the crank, piston kit, gasket kit, seal kit, carbs (if needed), get the head cut, and your in business. Quote
locogato11283 Posted March 25, 2005 Report Posted March 25, 2005 i never buy kits cuz i dont ever use hardly anything out of them. it depends on what all you need. is all your stuff stock? who is building this engine? do you have a builder? they should be able to get you what you need. and you do know that you cant just throw the 4mm longrod crank in and go. youll either need a spacer plate, which i dont recommend or youll need stroker domes. Wallrat Posted March 27, 2005 Report Posted March 27, 2005 Also you need to check with your builder and see if he can re-port your cyls for the stroker. Depending upon the amount of porting that was done before, he may or may not be able to do it. If he can't you'll have to sell your cyls and get another set off ebay. Quote
87_banshee Posted March 27, 2005 Report Posted March 27, 2005 (edited) I bought my setup on Ebay from a shop out of Michigan. It was roughly about 495.+ core of old crank, but the kit included crank, gaskets, pistons, spacer plate(incase you use the stock style pistons), bearings were already installed on the crank. The only thing that I bought outside of the kit was the seals. Edited March 27, 2005 by 87_banshee Quote
