locogato11283 Posted March 23, 2005 Report Posted March 23, 2005 Ur right. You need to up your pilot. 343552[/snapback] not necessarily. you could be getting too much gas. what is your jetting exactly?? stephen, remember the 500 and how fuckin hard it was to start. i leaned it out on the bottom and it started right up. stclark816 Posted March 23, 2005 Report Posted March 23, 2005 I do remember that.. What about the off the throttle bog? Isnt that due to a too small of pilot? Not getting enough fuel on bottom? I remember when tuning in my last rebuild(Gorr Port), it had a really bad bog off the throttle, we upped the pilot and I was good to go.. Quote
1sreamin350 Posted March 23, 2005 Author Report Posted March 23, 2005 It think it might be a little lean on the jet. I got these carbs from Tats and I dont think he had those clamp ons like I do. What do you guys think about the mains? Quote
1sreamin350 Posted March 23, 2005 Author Report Posted March 23, 2005 stclark... loco... were did you guys go.. Quote
locogato11283 Posted March 23, 2005 Report Posted March 23, 2005 will it start at all? once it gets started what does it do? does it surge a lot idling itself up and down? or does it load up so that when u hit the throttle you are cleaning it out? off the throttle bogs can be caused by too rich of a pilot. is it bogging or feel like its dying out? I really need to get out there for some much needed R& R. Quote
1sreamin350 Posted March 23, 2005 Author Report Posted March 23, 2005 yes it starts, but i have to pull up the choke. Is that normal. Rides ok. Just the slight bogging before the powerband bugs me. Seems to be ok when I slowly give it full throttle, but when I gun it thats when it bogs, We are going to pismo the frist week of april. Although, if the frorecast says rain we may just back to glamis. Quote

I usually let of throttle, then slam it agian, then it hits power band. These are on the keihn 28 pwk's. Quote
locogato11283 Posted March 24, 2005 Report Posted March 24, 2005 first off i would get the main dialed in. do a wide open plug test and see what the plug looks like then adjust accordingly. the midrange bog you are talking about is prolly caused by the needle. after you get the main i would get the pilot dialed in. when its idling you dont want it to load up which means it rich or rev by itself which is lean. once you get those dialed in then adjust for your midrange.
