i have a new basket and pressure plate. do you have to run their inner hub also with the 8 plate set, or can you use a different inner hub and keep the 7 plate set up using their basket and p-plate? i also have a new tusk clutch kit, and was hoping to not have to switch to ALL hinson with the outrageous $$ 8 plate deal. if so what brands would you suggest and where do i find them? THANKS. B)

Did you get the pressure plate for the 8 plate set up?

i could save like $400 by keeping my tusk kit and getting a new stock inner hub. rather than their inner hub and clutch kit.  anybody foresee any problems with doing that? your input is GREATLY appreciated.

Don't see any problem with that, 'is probably what I'd do.

i was just a little leery about that since my stocker hub has stress cracks all through it. i've had my shee for 4 years, so i suppose a new stocker should be fine for a while too. thanks led.

Went to install my Hinson pressure plate with stock inner hub and no workie, first hand experience bro. My advise would be to compare your existing pressure plate to the Hinson piece and see what you come up with, mine was a clutch fibers thickness - they hide the extra room for the 8 plate set-up between the inner hub and the pressure plate. Good luck!

I say keep the basket and get yourself a stock pressure plate and hub off of ebay and run the tusk clutch.  Sell the new pressure plate you bought and you'll be just fine and it'll be cheaper.

yeah i've been thinking about that too. it'll be much cheaper and probably work just fine. i started out wanting all hinson since i was upgrading anyway, but the $$ just kept going and going, and getting more complicated to make it all come together. that may be the best option yet. thanks guys. :cheers:B)

most of my parts are finally here, the rest should be here to pick up this afternoon. i just have a few questions about the installation. with my clymer's, it shouldn't be bad at all, but it does say to reinstall the rubber cushions between the plates, and sais nothing about the 'paper' gasket on the back side of the basket. do i really need either one?? my new tusk kit doesn't have new cushions with it. also my pushrod has a little bit of bluing on the ends like it was overheated sometime, the ball is spotless. it doesn't seem to be warped at all though and is perfectly smooth. i'm assuming that occurred when my clutch was slipping so bad before i parked it. it should be ok to still use it, right??

Trash the paper... the new basket should include new rubber bushings under the baskets cardboard packing. Ditch the rubber o-rings between the plates. The pushrod is heat treated from the factory.
