Hey guys,

I just found out i bent my axle somehow. Is it possible to straighten it? If its not possible, how is the G-Force axle. The new axle is my BACK-UP plan. I really wanna try straightening the stocker. Any ideas?

Axles are heat treated,so straighting it is not a good idea.I heard alot of good things about the G-Force axles and for $199.00 I'd give it a try.You could always check on here of Ebay for a good stocker if money is a problem.

If it's not severly bent you may be able to have a machinist straighten it for you but metals cannot take alot of bending without dangerous fatigue which could cause a sudden failure of the axle. If it's bent enough to notice riding on dirt, I'd say replace it. I may be interested in the bent one for an experiment if you want to get rid of it.

yo holyman, how about 100 for my bent axle? Its not bent that bad really, but i dont want to take any chances when i race this season, and i also ride a lot of really high speed trails in pa. If youre intrested i guess i could send you a few pics. Its bent very close to the wheel hub on the left side of the bike. Lemme know what ya wanna do :)

From personal experience working with heat treated materials I wouldn't try to straighten it.

This weekend we had some case hardened parts (not hard all the way through) that needed to be straightened about .020 is all. 5 of them shattered like glass. Some flexed, some didn't, it just depended on the grain of the material and how much bend it had going through heat treat.

My advise is get a new axle. Don't risk your saftey.

Thanks joe,

What would i need if i go with the g-force? The lock nut? What does taking off the axle involve? CAn i put the stock hubs on the g force? Anyone have a phone number or web site for the G-force axle.

Holyman, i really dont think im going to give the axle away. Maybe we can agree on a price, but if not, ill keep it!!!

I don't know anything about the G-Force axle. In fact I've never heard of them. If its a replacement axle, you need all of your hubs, and some lock nuts.

If it doesn't specify its a replacement axle, then they should specify that you have to use their hubs.

To take off the axle you need to take off the wheel hubs. They are splined, so you should be able to tap them off once you take off the hub nuts. Then take off the sprocket hub. Same thing. Splined, so it should tap off. Then you need to slide the axle out of the carrier. The stock carrier can be tough to get the axle out of. Then take the brake hub off.

When putting the new axle back on, do everything listed in reverse order, and be sure to torque the axle nuts if you use 2. If you use a lock nut, just make sure its on there good.

I just lookied at the RMATV catalog and the axle comes ready to go with lock nut and castle nuts.It says it has a "limited liftime warranty" and to ask the operator for details.

If i cant get anything for it, my dad is an engineer with access to a lathe and lots of other cool other stuff. Well see, i dont really feel like giving away an axle that can be ridden on as is.

RMATV is where i get all my stuff from btw. Does that 199 price include the lock nuts or is there a special package? Thanks guys :)
