BansheeBruce Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 I have some side to side play in the stock axle. The brake disk is mounted tightly but seems to be loose on the axle. Is there anything that can be tightened or is the axle possibly wearing out in this area? I'm leaving for the dunes today , so hopefully this is nothing serious. Please help. Quote
01bansheeke Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 is the nut tight? could be play in the carrier bearings. Quote
fastbanshee4u Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 is the nut tight? could be play in the carrier bearings. 337395[/snapback] your axel needs tightened.loosen the lock nut ,tighted the othe nut until snug. Then thighten the lock nut into the other. You really got to jam the to together tight to keepem tight. Also after tight lift quad off the ground and check axel for front to back play,by grabbing the tires and pushing and pulling . If any movement your bearings are going bad. I which I was going riding today. hope this helps you. Quote
BenBB Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 I agree with everyone else, if it's ONLY side-to-side play, tighten the axle nuts. If there's any radial or up/down movement, the axle bearings are prolly toast (get it on a centerstand and move the rear tires). Good luck. Quote
JARE77 Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 Dont ride if they are shot you will be thankfull when you go to remove the old bearings. It can make for a real mess if the bearing races get basically welded to the inside of your carrier.Seen it happen more than a few times! Quote
